Exceeding Expectations and Staying Ahead of the Curve

“A successful relationship is a process, not a goal.” – Joseph Rain

Here at M3T we believe that meeting expectations should be just that, “an expectation” not a goal. If you are set to achieve what is expected, you don’t put yourself in a position to outgrow your current state. With that being said you want to make sure in your pursuit of exceeding expectations that you do not falter on a fundamental level. There is a process of giving what is expected and then going beyond, ensuring that your process still fulfills your initial explicit duty completely. How is such service possible? Through the ongoing sharing of valued information.

Success of collaboration in the realm of business hinges on the quality of communication that takes place in the relationship. Creating an environment where your partners explicit needs and wants are heard and received is the first step to ensuring that their expectations will be met. You must follow through will those things discussed through a process of open communication to ensure that those needs are met. No matter the situation nothing is ever perfect, and as the expert in the service you are providing new concepts may arise through your stages of completing the process that may better suit what your partner has asked of you. Do you continue with the initial plan or do you consult with your partner about your new thoughts? The first option still ensures that expectations will be met but the latter creates an opportunity to provide service beyond their conceptualization. Through this continued open sharing of knowledge your partner will gain valuable knowledge from your expertise while you the provider will gain further insight into exceeding their initial expectations. This is also proactive, open communication between business partners cuts down on future unforeseen cost due to misunderstandings and any lack of the full scope of variables from each side. When it comes to staying ahead of the curve and exceeding expectations, continually sharing valued information is the right way to go.
