Building a security plan for a company, organization, school, etc. is not nearly as challenging as keeping that plan relevant for employees. Security is not just a technical issue, it is a people issue. 

Having the latest and greatest technology does not make a successful or even useful security plan.

It is not only getting everyone in the organization to buy into the plan but also to know what his or her responsibility is in the plan.

It is imperative that there is a complete understanding of the security plan by an organization, and the goal of that plan.

A good security plan’s first line of defense is in your controls: how you enforce security best practices and prevent successful compromise.

The second line of defense is detection: how you detect attacks or attempted breaches, or how you know whether your controls are working.

The third line of defense is your team: how aware they are of security and what they are doing to avoid being a weak link.
